Blackborow is Salsa’s "dream big" cargo fat bike, best paired with an unlimited imagination. The extended wheelbase and rear stays offer huge carrying capacity via abundant frame and fork braze-ons, supporting room for four full-sized panniers on the beautifully engineered rear rack. Top-shelf, double and triple-butted, heat-treated 6066-T6 aluminum tubing is used throughout the frame. Additionally, the tubing is strategically shaped and formed for additional stiffness and strength optimization in key stress areas. The front end is compatible with all our rigid fat bike forks and also fat-specific suspension forks. When Blackborow is sensibly loaded, the bike still feels well balanced and is a pleasure to ride on winding trails compared to other long-tail cargo bikes. Featuring carbon construction with an aluminum steerer, the Kingpin Fork is lightweight and durable, and features an amazing array of accessory bosses to maximize its capabilities: dual sets of Three-Pack bosses on each leg accept bottle cages or our Anything Cage accessories, lowrider mounts work with our Down Under front rack for a traditional touring setup, and internal dynamo hub wire routing keeps the front end clean for those upgrading to dyno hubs. But the Pitch Sport is in touch with its feelings too, offering a ride that's as comfortable as it is durable, thanks to a lightweight proprietary alloy and Sport Trail 27.5 Geometry for sure handling. Size-specific suspension It's not enough to offer quality suspension like the coil-sprung SR SunTour XCT 30 fork on the Pitch Sport. We also custom-design travel based on frame size to keep the geometry and ride quality consistent over all sizes. Lockout limits annoying bobbing on smooth terrain. Sweet spot wheels Why 27.5-inch wheels exactly, not 27 or 28? It's a happy medium which offers most of the benefits of the older 26-inch size, like light weight and agility, with those of the newer, oversize 29er version, like fast-rolling efficiency and easy roll over obstacles. Specialized Stumpjumper EVO Alloy 27.5 - Frameset
Let's get something clear—the Stumpjumper EVO Alloy 27.5 isn't a "normal" trail bike. It's built to get gnarly, and there's no real way around that. It has a slacked-out front-end and a longer top tube, so the EVO has heavier steering and exceptional front-end traction that begs you to do cutties and boost every lip. And with the perfect blend of responsiveness and stability that 27.5-inch wheels are known for, you'll be shredding the gnarliest lines in no time. When the goin' gets rowdy, the rowdy get goin'. What exactly is the EVO for? EVO is for the shredders—the gnarliest trail riders who live for gravity riding. Big drops, huge kickers, rocks, roots—whatever you throw at it, the Stumpjumper EVO can handle it. EVO uses the same style-specific sizing that's featured on our Demo. This sizing lets you choose the bike that fits the way you ride—not just by the seat tube measurement like with most bikes—and it narrows things down to two sizes, S2 and S3. These are longer, lower, slacker, and have seat tube and head tube heights that allow you to choose the size that best suits your style and terrain. Our other design goal was simple—build the ultimate trail bike. One that feels telepathic. And it turns out that this feeling all comes down to stiffness. Think of it this way: when the frame's telling your hands one thing and your feet another, your brain gets confused with the imbalance and the bike feels unstable. In order to fix this, we had to get to work on dialing-in the materials and shapes. We continued down the suspension path with a custom Rx Trail Tune on both the fork and rear shock. Suspension performance is highly dependent on frame, wheel, and rider size, so we use our Rx Tune to get each bike to land in the middle of the adjustment spectrum, and this gives you the biggest possible range to fine-tune your ride. Another focal point of the tune was matching the suspension characteristics between wheel sizes—we developed a specific Rx Tune for each platform. So, no matter what wheel size you prefer, you'll get perfectly linear suspension. Steps were also taken to make this bike easy to live with. Threaded bottom brackets make a triumphant return, and we made room for up to a 3.0" tire. You're also free to run whatever aftermarket rear shock you want, since we're using standard metric shocks. And customization is furthered with a Flip Chip that lets you to dial-in your Stumpy to your riding style. Switch it from High to Low and it drops your bottom bracket 6mm and slackens the head tube by half-a-degree. Little details also jump out to surprise you, like a newly designed ribbed chainstay protector that makes chain slap a thing of the past and nearly silences the drivetrain. - With its M5 alloy frame, 27.5 Trail EVO geometry, and 150mm of travel, the Stumpjumper EVO Alloy has been purpose-built to shred the most gravity-defying trails. - FOX FLOAT DPX2 Performance has three modes—Open, Trail, and Firm—that control large compression adjustments on-the-fly.
